Liberal Vs. Conservative, a play on words to enslave a nation, Part 3b

By Harry Felker

Jokers to the Left, Clowns to the Right (continued)

In America the Right Wing movement is represented by the Republican Party in it’s major political theater, in opposition to the Left Wing Democrats, which represents a set of values that is commonly referred to as “Conservative”. The movement uses subtle euphemisms to get their platform across to the voters, one must ask, what are the ends to these means and, more importantly, why are they using this political tactic? As noted below, the Republican Platform stands on a nationalist foundation, the idea that we as people should line up behind the government, lead by them, and unite for the national cause. This ideology is focused on producing a nationalist movement, cleverly disguised as patriotism, to move towards the logical conclusion, a fascist government. The subtlety, which is proper to America, is very relevant to this end, and it is required that we examine why. Fascism is an unpopular concept in the United States; there are two main reasons why this could be, both quite sufficient to warrant the subtlety; the human atrocities attributed to fascism, and its role in the propagation of the Second World War. The death toll was a record high in the hands of fascism, until after World War II, when the communist nations began weighing in. In truth, Stalin’s Soviet Administration exterminated more than 3 times the amount of people fascism had in total. The only reasonable answer as why fascism overshadows communism in political negativity, and so the need for subtlety, is in reality the propensity for war. A fascist regime must rely on war, a constant enemy, in order to maintain the nationalism in the population allowing for its particular excesses. Remember not that they are subtle, but rather why, and this is because the ends to their means is a totalitarian fascist regime, demanding obedience through nationalist fervor.

What is the Right? In many nations the right movement is embodied in the Nationalist (Fascist) Party, in America we call the Right wing party the Republican Party, just as with the Democrats and the Left, one could assume there is a correlation in the two. Let us compare Nationalism and Fascism, and see how they weigh against the Republican Party platform.

Merriam-Webster: Nationalism (1)

Main Entry: na·tion·al·ism
Pronunciation: \ˈnash-nə-ˌli-zəm, ˈna-shə-nə-ˌli-zəm\
Function: noun
Date: 1844
1: loyalty and devotion to a nation; especially: a sense of national consciousness exalting one nation above all others and placing primary emphasis on promotion of its culture and interests as opposed to those of other nations or supranational groups
2: a nationalist movement or government

Merriam-Webster: Fascism (2)

Main Entry: fas·cism
Pronunciation: \ˈfa-ˌshi-zəm also ˈfa-ˌsi-\
Function: noun
Etymology: Italian fascismo, from fascio bundle, fasces, group, from Latin fascis bundle & fasces
Date: 1921
1 often capitalized: a political philosophy, movement, or regime (as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition
2: a tendency toward or actual exercise of strong autocratic or dictatorial control <early instances of army fascism and brutality — J. W. Aldridge>

The Republican Party Platform (3)

Nationalism and Fascism are truly the same concept; Fascism is in reality a refining of the nationalist movement, adding an autocratic government with strict government regulation of all aspects of the individual’s life. Many of the “successful” Fascist movements (I say this to mean they came to full power) have emphasized national identity (Italy) or racial identity and purity (Germany), and exhibited all the trappings of a Fascist society, down to the oppression of dissent. Now how does this relate to the Republican Party? Well, if you refer to the primary site listed in Footnote (3) you will see the first note in the platform is National Security, national security is a very nationalist concept, it is the safety of the nation above all others. Going to the link for National Security (3a) we find a plethora of Nationalist ideals fit for an American Fascist regime:

“(Peace through strength) requires the unity of Americans”
“All Americans should affirm that our first obligation is the security of our country.”
“The fact that eighty percent of our critical infrastructure is in private hands highlights the need for public-private partnerships to safeguard it”
“In our multiethnic nation, everyone – immigrants and native-born alike – must embrace our core values”
“In any war of ideas, our values will triumph.”

It is not too much of a stretch to see the Republican standard is a Nationalist policy, focusing on the superiority of our nation and the need or the whole of the populace to fall in line. Appearing in the same section: “In dealing with present conflicts and future crises, our next president must preserve all options. It would be presumptuous to specify them in advance and foolhardy to rule out any action deemed necessary for our security.” We see that the Republican Party is specifically, with the expansive power of the US military machine, is standing on the platform of giving the full powers of war to the executive branch. The most underlying similarity between Republican “Values” and Fascism is the annihilation of the individual under the banner of Nationalism, that the nation takes precedence over the individual.

I think there is sufficient proof to claim a definitive alignment with left and right wing politics, between America and the rest of the world, the only logical conclusion is that the radicals of each here at home are looking for their personal Ideals (Communism and Fascism, respectively) to be implemented. The less radical politicians are more often falling between the far left and far right with no lateral movement towards Liberalism.

Public Good vs. National Security

Now that we truly have a basis of understanding of the left and the right, let us compare and contrast the two, these policies should have differing results, as they are diametric opposites of the political scale. The left, or Communist, faction is driven for the sole purpose of the “greater” or “public” good, and the collective is morally superior to the individual by virtue of the fact that it is best for all. This is the collectivist notion that the group is more important than the individual, that rights are assigned by class or other segregatory demographic such as, race, heritage, gender, lifestyle, etc. Most of the current incarnation of these ideas is rooted in post-Marx writings about communism sources from the Frankfurt Institute for Social Research (4), when the worldwide proletariat revolution did not take place. This is the basis for the current communist movement in the United States; collective civil rights, politically correct speech and egalitarian social policies, all indicated as the foundation of the Democratic Party platform.

The Right, or Fascist, faction is represented by the Nationalist notion of National Security, that our nation is under constant threat from foreign and domestic enemies, and if you “love your country” you will fall in line and do as you are told. We had seen the greatest display of this during the last few years when the P.A.T.R.I.O.T. U.S.A. Act was being enforced, where members of our own society decided that if you were a patriot you should be silent about government intrusions. Where not patriotic, but rather nationalist, fervor swept across the land giving silent consent to the loss of liberty, for the most part, because the individual did not feel concerned as Nationalist pride encourages the individual to trust the government. The current platform is no different, espousing dissent as unpatriotic, not falling in line with their values is agreeing with the “enemy” and all that disagree are destroying America.

In unison, both parties will distinctly say that the idea of their party platform cannot be realized in America, the “It cannot happen here” mentality, which communism/fascism is what everyone else is doing, and the parties are actually for liberty. This ties into the quote by Goethe, “None are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe they are free.” Both political ideologies are against the individual, as are the party ideals, there can be no individual in collectivism or nationalism, so each has the feature of the annihilation of the individual. They both expect to destroy the free thought process for a group mentality, either under the theory of the “greater good” or “national security” which in turn will melt away the individual. The Group will be all-important, rights or better put in these ideals, privileges are granted in relation to the size of ones group or the majority will.

The end result in either case is tyranny, where the elite direct the lives of the people in an Orwellian fashion; in the perfect case it has an elegant mixture of collectivism and nationalism to deceive the people into a stupor. In the end the wings are a means to a common goal, a Statist Oligarchy, where the individual is annihilated and the people as a group live and die at the will of the government.
